Guadalix de la Sierra perfectly embodies the spirit of the "Red de Pueblos de Película" (Film Towns Network) because, rather than being merely a set for productions large and small, it is a place that has woven cinema and television into its very identity. Berlanga's legacy remains very much alive in Guadalix; a testament to this is the Town Hall balcony--from which Pepe Isbert delivered one of the most famous speeches in the history of Spanish cinema--which has since become a true symbol of the town.
